Running Clinic
Dear Valued Customer,
Now that the weather is warming up, many of us are dusting off our sneakers and spending more time running outdoors. Some of us are running for exercise, and others take up this sport to train for competitions and marathons.
However, did you know that more than 50% of runners experience an injury?
This can be due to many factors including repetitive stress to certain areas, footwear, foot types and prior injuries. Foot injuries are extremely common for both novice and experienced runners, and can severely impact the enjoyment of this sport.
Common injuries include:
- Stress fractures (overstraining of the forefoot)
- Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
- Bunion (big toe pain)
- Neuroma (pinched nerve)
- Shin splints (overstress of the front leg)
Before you start getting serious about running this season, come see one of our certified foot specialists to make sure you are well prepared to run this year without any injuries. We will assess your gait, your footwear and your overall biomechanics to ensure everything is as normal as they can be. As you may know, we stock orthopedic running shoes that we will fit you for if you are having trouble finding the proper footwear. Nonetheless, if you do suffer any foot related injuries this season, please do not hesitate to contact us for an appointment to resolve your issues as soon as possible.
