Dear Valued Customer,
You're not alone. Neuromas, also known as a pinched nerve, is a common ailment. Learn more about this condition and how to treat it below.
What is Neuroma?
From the American Podiatric Medical Association, this common painful condition, also known as a pinched nerve, is a benign growth of nerve tissue frequently found between the third and fourth toes. It causes pain, a burning sensation, tingling, or numbness between the toes and in the ball of the foot.
What are the causes?
The causes of neuromas range from: • Biomechanical deformities and foot types
(such as a high-arched or flat foot)
Improper footwear that causes toes to be squeezed together
(such as high heels)
- Repetitive stress
Diagnosis & Treatment
Neuromas are often misdiagnosed because they can't be seen on an xray and don't always respond to conventional treatment methods and medications. They're usually diagnosed via clinical symptoms and palpation. Treatment options include injections, and if severe, surgical intervention. However, our most popular and effective methods include shockwave therapy and custom made orthotics. The former attacks the nerve impingement directly and makes it effectively smaller, while the latter opens up the interspace and prevents it from getting worse.
